James Hardie Siding in Corte Madera, CA 94925

James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding in the Statement Collection's Evening Blue carries this Corte Madera home, a deep, even color that holds up well in Marin's coastal weather. We stripped the exterior back to the studs, pulling off the old wood, vinyl, and fiber-cement siding along with the trim around every door, window, and corner. With the walls open, our crew inspected the framing for dry rot and made the structural repairs needed before any new material went up. The finished result is a crisp blue-and-white envelope that reads clean and modern from the street.

Behind the siding we built a full moisture-protection system: HardieWrap weather barrier across the walls, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings, and metal z-flashing to shed water at the right transitions. The Evening Blue lap boards are trimmed in 5/4-by-4 Hardie ColorPlus in Arctic White around the openings and corners, which keeps the contrast sharp and the lines defined. To tie the whole exterior together, we painted the stucco and lattice areas, the eaves and fascia, the foundation, and both the automatic garage door and the garage side door. Downspouts and house numbers that came off for the install went back where they belonged once the new siding was up.
