James Hardie Siding Transformation in Clayton, CA 94517
Working on this Clayton home meant a lot of careful attention up high - the house has tall walls and hard-to-reach gables, so our crew set up the right access and staging before a single board came off. We stripped the existing siding and trim down to the framing, inspected the structural members underneath, and handled dry rot repairs where we found them so the new system went on over sound material. From there it became a clean, methodical reside that left the home tighter and sharper than before.
The exterior is finished in James Hardie lap siding from the Statement Collection, installed primed and then custom-painted to the homeowner's chosen look. Behind it we ran HardieWrap weather barrier across all the walls, set Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at every window and door, and added metal Z-flashing for layered moisture protection. Trim was rebuilt throughout in Hardie 5/4 stock - 5/4x4 around the windows and doors and 5/4x6 on the single and double garage door openings and corners. We also replaced a run of fascia at the back of the house near the gutter, swapped the side man door for a close match to the original, and painted the eaves, fascia, foundation line, the three garage doors, and that side door to manufacturer specs.
With the walls reopened, we reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers that had been removed for the new siding and cleared all the demolition debris from the site.
