How to budget for countertops within a remodel?

Settle cabinetry first, then choose a slab that fits what remains rather than picking a slab and hoping the rest of the budget accommodates it. Because we quote fabrication separately from the slab, you can change slab without the labor number moving.
Are permits required?
Permits are generally not required for a like-for-like countertop swap in Sacramento. Permits apply when the project moves plumbing, gas, or electrical, and we pull those permits when the scope calls for them. Permit management is a $375 line plus the actual permit fee, reimbursed at cost.
Do I need to empty my cabinets before installation?

How do I maintain and seal each material?
Quartz never needs sealing; clean with soap and water and avoid direct heat. Granite seals at install and once a year. Quartzite seals periodically like granite. Marble needs frequent sealing and immediate acid cleanup. Laminate needs no sealing but avoid standing water at seams.
