James Hardie Siding & Milgard Windows in Concord, CA 94521
The exterior of this two-story Concord home now reads clean and crisp, with deep Boothbay Blue lap siding set against bright Arctic White trim around every window and corner. Where the old wood and skip-sheathing siding had served its time, the walls now carry a fiber-cement system engineered for this climate, and eight new windows brought the second-floor bedrooms and ground-floor rooms up to current energy standards. Day to day, the house holds its color and shrugs off the weather instead of fading and cracking.
We tore off the existing siding and trim down to the framing, inspected the structural members for dry rot, and re-sheathed the walls with new 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB for shear strength, passing the city's nailing inspection before any siding went up. Over that we layered HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings, and metal z-flashing to keep moisture out for the long haul. The siding is James Hardie ColorPlus lap from the Statement Collection in Boothbay Blue, finished with 5/4-by-4 trim at the openings and 5/4-by-6 at the garage doors and corners in Arctic White Rustic Grain. We painted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation, and coated the remaining stucco areas with high-grade Sherwin-Williams paint.
For the windows, our crew installed Milgard Tuscany Series retrofit vinyl units - six upstairs and two down - with the Low-E 366 and argon glass package for better summer and winter comfort.
