New James Hardie Siding Installed in Oakland, CA 94618

Set in Oakland's Rockridge area, this home traded its aging, mismatched siding for a clean exterior in Light Mist with Arctic White trim. We re-sided every wall except the cinder block sections at the entry, including the small upper window wall under the roofline facing the backyard. The result is a crisp, cohesive look that reads consistent from the front elevation all the way around.

Before any siding went up, our crew stripped the old wood, vinyl, and FRC layers down to the framing and inspected the structural members for dry rot, making repairs with exterior-grade lumber and OSB sheathing where needed. We re-sheathed the walls in 7/16-inch OSB for shear strength and passed the city's nailing inspection, then wrapped the home in HardieWrap weather barrier with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at every window and door opening and metal z-flashing on the horizontal joints. James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding from the Statement Collection went on over that system, finished with 5/4-by-4 ColorPlus trim around the openings and corners and Cedar Mill soffit replacing the old wood boards.

To tie everything together, we also installed new Marvin Ultimate wood-clad windows and patio doors - sixteen windows, a large assembly unit, and two patio doors, all built with LowE366 argon glass, bronze exterior frames, and bare pine interiors. Eaves, fascias, gutters, downspouts, and the foundation were all painted to match the finished siding.
