The homeowners here wanted a tougher, better-looking exterior that wouldn't fight the coastal weather Vallejo deals out, and the finished home delivers exactly that. We stripped the house down to the studs across all exterior walls, hauling away the old siding and trim, then rebuilt the whole skin with James Hardie fiber cement in the Statement Collection. The result is a crisp, fade-resistant Mountain Sage facade with clean trim lines and 18 new windows that read as a single, considered design rather than a patchwork of repairs.
With the old siding off, our crew inspected the wall framing and addressed the dry rot we found before any new material went up. From there we wrapped the home in HardieWrap weather barrier, set Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at every window and door opening, and ran metal z-flashing for long-term moisture protection. The lap siding wears a ColorPlus finish in Mountain Sage, with 5/4-by-4 ColorPlus trim around the openings and corners and 5/4-by-6 trim framing the double garage doors. Two small four-by-four areas above the front second-floor windows got Hardie Shake design siding for a bit of texture, and we painted the eaves, fascia, foundation, garage doors, and side access door to tie everything together.
The window package is Anlin Catalina new-construction vinyl, 18 units plus one sliding glass door, all carrying the Low-E 366 glass coating and argon fill for year-round efficiency. We closed out by reinstalling the downspouts and house numbers and clearing the site of all project debris.
