James Hardie & Anlin Catalina Windows in Oakland, CA 94611

Working on the high walls of this Oakland home meant our crew spent as much time on safety setup and careful detailing as on the siding itself. We rebuilt the exterior from the sheathing out, paying close attention to the trim lines and flashing so the finished James Hardie system would sit clean and tight around every opening. The result is a crisp, low-maintenance exterior in Mountain Sage with CobbleStone trim that reads as one consistent, well-fitted skin across the whole structure.

The job started with a full tear-off of the existing siding and trim down to the framing, where we inspected the structural members and repaired the dry rot we found before re-sheathing. New half-inch plywood went up for shear-wall strength and passed the city's nailing inspection, followed by HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the windows and doors, and metal z-flashing across the openings. We then installed James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding from the Statement Collection in Mountain Sage, trimmed out the openings and corners with 5/4-by-4 ColorPlus trim in CobbleStone, and repainted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation to match.

Alongside the siding, we replaced the home's glazing with Anlin Catalina new-construction vinyl windows carrying the Infinit-e three-layer Low-E glass package - 14 windows, three sliding glass doors, and six specialty windows, 23 units in all. As an authorized Anlin dealer, our team set each unit into the new flashed openings so the moisture protection and siding tied together correctly.
