James Hardie Siding Replacement in Lafayette, CA 94549
The exterior of this Lafayette home went from tired, worn cladding to a clean, modern face in Night Gray. We stripped the old siding down to the wall and rebuilt it with James Hardie's Statement Collection lap plank, covering both the main house and the lower ADU apartment unit. The deep charcoal color paired with crisp custom-painted trim gives the home a sharper, more contemporary profile than it had before.
Our crew started by setting up pump jacks to safely reach the high walls and hard-to-access areas, then tore off all existing siding, trims, and skip sheathing down to the framing. With the walls open, we inspected the structural members for dry rot and repaired the damaged sections we found before re-cladding. Over the new wall surface we installed HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at every window and door opening, and metal z-flashing to keep moisture out for the long haul. The Color Plus lap siding went on in Night Gray, finished with 5/4-by-4-inch ColorPlus trim around openings and corners, and we ran up to 25 lineal feet of new primed Hardie fascia, up to 11.25 inches, along the west side wall.
To tie everything together, we painted the eaves, fascia, stucco foundation, and the two-car garage, then reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers that came off during the siding work.
