The exterior of this Oakland home went from worn, aging siding to a clean, deep-blue facade with crisp white trim that completely reset the look of the house. Our crew stripped the old siding down to the framing, rebuilt the wall assembly, and wrapped the home in James Hardie's Statement Collection. The Evening Blue lap against Arctic White trim gives the place a sharp, contemporary edge it didn't have before.

We tore off all existing siding and trim, then inspected the wall structure underneath. Where we found dry rot in the framing, we cut out and replaced the damaged members before moving forward. New half-inch exterior sheathing went up across the walls for shear strength and a solid base for the siding system, followed by HardieWrap weather barrier and Forti-Flash rubberized flashing around the windows and doors per James Hardie's specifications. The field went in as 8.25-inch Cedarmill HardiePlank lap siding in Evening Blue, framed with Rustic Grain HardieTrim in Arctic White around every opening, corner, and the double garage door.

To finish the envelope, we installed Cedar Mill soffits under the eaves and painted the eaves, fascia, garage door, and foundation to coordinate with the new color scheme, including prep and paint on the brick and mortar so it ties into the siding. Downspouts and house numbers were reset once the siding was complete, and all demolition debris was hauled off site.
