James Hardie Siding & Windows Install in Santa Rosa, CA 95403
The back of this Santa Rosa home now reads clean and current, with crisp Khaki Brown lap siding running across the rear walls and both chimney faces. Where the old siding had weathered and, in spots, lost the integrity to support a new system, our crew tore it down to the studs and rebuilt the wall assembly the right way. The two chimney sidings tie the whole rear elevation together, and the three remaining walls were repainted to match so the house reads as one cohesive color scheme rather than a patchwork.
We removed the existing siding and trim from the back yard-facing walls and chimney walls, hauled the debris away, and inspected the framing underneath. Where old material had failed, we installed new 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB sheathing for shear-wall strength, then wrapped everything in HardieWrap weather barrier with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings and metal Z-flashing above. James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding from the Statement Collection went on in Khaki Brown, finished with 5/4-by-4 HardieTrim in Cobble Stone around ten window and door openings and the corners. Two seal-failure windows on the back wall were swapped for Alside Mezzo retrofit vinyl windows with Low-E 366 glass and argon fill.
Dry rot is one of those things you can't see until the siding comes off, so we inspected the structural members as we opened the walls and repaired the damaged framing we found before any new material went up. To finish, we painted the eaves, gutters, downspouts, and foundation on the rear, repainted the three remaining walls and garage doors to complement the new siding and trim, and reinstalled the downspouts and house numbers.
