Jame Hardie Siding Installation in San Mateo, CA 94402
The exterior of this San Mateo home now wears clean horizontal lines of James Hardie lap siding in Boothbay Blue, crisply framed by Arctic White trim around every window, door, and corner. The old metal siding that once covered the walls is gone, and in its place is a fiber cement system engineered for this climate and finished to hold its color for years. The result reads as a sharp, modern blue-and-white palette that carries the same look around the full perimeter of the house.
We started by setting up safety staging to reach the high walls and harder-to-access areas, then stripped off the existing siding and trims down to the structure. With the walls open, our crew inspected the framing and made minor dry rot repairs using exterior-grade OSB sheathing where needed. From there we wrapped the home in HardieWrap weather barrier, sealed the window and door openings with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing, and ran metal z-flashing for long-term moisture protection. The Statement Collection ColorPlus lap siding went on next, trimmed out with 5/4-by-4 ColorPlus boards at the openings and corners and 5/4-by-6 trim framing the double garage doors.
To tie everything together, we painted the eaves, beams, fascias, foundation, and existing wood trims in Sherwin-Williams Emerald Satin matched to the Hardie body and trim colors. We also replaced two windows with Alside Mezzo retrofit vinyl units carrying Low-E 366 glass and argon fill, and reset the downspouts and house numbers once the siding was complete.
