Artisan Lap Siding & Simonton Windows in Foster City, CA 94404
Working at height on this Foster City home meant our crew set up safety staging early and took its time on the details, since most of the walls were tall and hard to reach. We stripped the existing siding and trim down to the framing, then inspected the wall structure underneath for hidden dry rot before any new material went up. With the openings reflashed and the walls re-sheathed, we installed James Hardie Artisan lap siding across every elevation except the back right, finished in Khaki Brown with Arctic White trim for a clean, lasting exterior.
For shear strength and a sound nailing base, we re-sheathed the walls in 7/16-inch exterior-grade OSB and passed the city's shear-wall nailing inspection. Over that went HardieWrap weather barrier, Forti-Flash rubberized flashing at the window and door openings, and metal z-flashing to keep moisture out of the system. The Artisan lap siding carries a deep, defined shadow line, trimmed throughout with 5/4-by-4 ColorPlus boards in Arctic White around openings and corners. Alongside the siding, we replaced nine windows and a patio door with Simonton new-construction vinyl units glazed with Low-E 366 and argon gas for year-round efficiency, then repainted the eaves, fascia, foundation, gutters, and downspouts to tie everything together.
