Sam Rutkevich is a Renovation Specialist at GVD Renovations with over 16 years of hands-on experience in the residential construction industry. Originally from Ukraine, where he studied architecture, Sam brings a unique design-oriented perspective to every remodeling project. He is proficient in CAD rendering and 2020 Design, the industry-standard software for cabinetry and kitchen layout planning, which allows him to create detailed project visualizations for homeowners before work begins. Sam oversees both interior and exterior projects — from kitchen and bathroom renovations to roofing, siding, windows, and home additions — throughout the Sacramento region, Lake Tahoe, and the Bay Area. His architectural background, combined with extensive knowledge of building materials, local building codes, and the unique climate considerations across Northern California's diverse regions, allows him to bridge the gap between design vision and practical execution. When he's not on the jobsite, Sam enjoys snowboarding in Tahoe and spending time with his wife and three kids. His firsthand experience working with homeowners from initial consultation through project completion gives him practical insight that informs every article he contributes to the GVD blog.
