Gold River, California is located in Sacramento County. Although the Gold River community has some smaller divisions that are serviced by the Gold River Discovery Center, which accommodates grades kindergarten through the eighth grade, in addition to some light industrial, commercial, and retail areas, the community of Gold River is primarily a residential planned development. The community of Gold River is comprised of a condominium development, triplexes, duplexes, and detached single family homes. Gold River lies between the communities of American River in the north, Folsom in the east, and Rancho Cordova in the south. This planned development has 25 separate villages for which the master association is the Gold River Community Association. There are also sub-associations for each village. The two subdivisions of the planned development include the Gold River Station, which elected not to be included into the community of Rancho Cordova by both petitions as well as resolution. The community is still an unincorporated part of Sacramento County.
