The precise origin of the anomaly is a mystery. The stone is perfectly balanced stone until a touch of a finger, which will rock the stone.
The Donner State Park, also located right in Truckee. Visitors and their families can visit the place where the ill-fated Donner party got stranded. Only about half of the Donner party made it out alive. They were stuck there all winter, and after running out of food, and in order to survive some of the Donner party resorted to cannibalism and had to eat their dead comrades. A young girl named Mary Murphy survived and married and had a family after settling in the Central Valley of California. The community of Marysville was named in her honor.
