James Hardie Siding Installation in Corte Madera, CA 94925
Working high on the walls and around the hard-to-reach gable tops, our crew gave careful attention to every course of siding on this Corte Madera home. The original trim around the windows, doors, and corners came off first so we could install a clean, watertight system underneath. As we opened up areas with damaged siding sheathing, we inspected the wall framing for dry rot and made structural repairs with new 2x4 framing and exterior-grade OSB before anything new went up. The finished result reads crisp and deliberate, with sharp trim lines and a deep blue-and-white color scheme that suits the house.
For the field siding we installed James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding from the Statement Collection - 8 1/4-inch Cedarmill profile in Evening Blue - across the entire home. Before the boards went on, we wrapped the walls in HardieWrap weather barrier, sealed the window and door openings with Forti-Flash rubberized flashing, and ran metal z-flashing for long-term moisture protection. The 5/4x4 smooth ColorPlus trim was carried in Evening Blue at the corners and around the doors, with Arctic White framing the windows, and the street-facing gable tops were dressed in James Hardie cedar-shake-look material for contrast up top.
While the walls were open, we added insulation in any spot where damaged siding had to come off, improving comfort inside. We also set two new Simonton vinyl picture windows - one large and one circular accent - removed and reinstalled the eight downspouts and a fence gate, and finished the fascia, eaves, porch ceiling, and foundation in Sherwin-Williams Emerald Satin.
