About Santa Rosa

In 1850, California joined the union as the 31st state of the country. By the early 1960s, Santa Rosa became the most populous community of Santa Rosa. Nobody knows where the name California originated.

Some 167 years before the arrival of the Franciscans in 1602, the Franciscans established the first mission in California some 18 years before coming ashore at the Mayflower at New Plymouth. A Spanish explorer whose name was Sebastian Vizcaino left from Acapulco to explore and navigate the California coastline for the Spanish crown. The completed under the protection and patronage of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Three Carmelite Discalced Friars went with the voyage and served as chaplains for the crew and looked out for opportunities for future conversion of the Native Indian tribes. In 1602, the ships sailed into what is currently known as the San Diego Harbor. The feast day of San Diego Alcala, which happened some two days later. On the last day of San Diego de Alcala, which was a shelter was erected. Father Tomas de Aquino celebrated the first recorded Mass in what is currently known as the West Coast of California.

In 1603, Vizcaino continued his trek up the coast. The voyage went past the San Francisco Bay on to the Feast of the Epiphany. The area was named Punta de Los Reyes, or known as the Point of the Three Kings, in English, which is currently known as Point Reyes. As a result, the property comes to be known as the Octave of the Epiphany. It came to become known as the as each coastal landing location, and Mass would come to be known as Cape Mendocino. There the excuurion dition broke up, with only a single ship heading back to Mexico and the other continuing all the way to the Cape of San Sebastian, which is currently known as southern Oregon.

For more than 150 years, the growth of the Church into Alta California went unrecognized. Then, in 1769, Father Junipero Serra established his first mission in San Diego. In 1823, the San Francisco Solano, of Sonoma, by Father Jose Altamira, provided the official name as the Church, which became known as the Diocese of Santa Rosa.

Saint Bernard in Eureka was another church. In 1859, Saint John the Baptist and in Napa was stable in 1886. Saint Teresa of Avila in Bodega came into being and was established. In 1864, Saint Anthony in Mendocino came was established. In 1865, Saint came to be known as Helena in 1868. The 400th anniversary was a celebration of the Church in this diocese. The Church that were located both here all across the country. Bishop Daniel Walsh has asked the Catholics of the Diocese of Santa Rosa to offer the Crusade of Prayer, which became known in 2001, which includes five years. As a result, the diocese under the superior protection of the Virgin Mary and requests, and particularly, prayers to the patron Saint Rose of Lima, for the healing and spiritual growth of the Church. cadees s Sinners repented, charity abounded, and scandals ceased.
